Tiny files, specific jobs.
A cookie is a small text file a website can write to your browser. When you return, the browser sends it back. The practical result is that the site recognises your session, remembers a preference, or counts you once in aggregate usage.
Three categories, no ad-tech.
Every cookie we set falls in one of the three categories below. Categories outside this list — advertising, social-plugin tracking, third-party behavioural profiling — are not deployed.
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function. Manage the session, protect against forged requests, and maintain security. Cannot be disabled through a preference centre — disable them at the browser level if desired, accepting that the site will not work.
Preferences
Remember choices you have made — notably the dark / light theme. Not used for analytics, not shared with any third party.
Analytics · privacy-respecting
If enabled, a small number of aggregate events are recorded to understand which pages are used. No IP address stored in the clear, no cross-site identifier, no resale. Disabled by default where law requires explicit opt-in.
The full list, by name.
Every cookie we set on this domain is named and documented below. If you see a cookie on zemoon.ca that is not in this list, it was not set by us — please report it to the Privacy Office.
We do not set third-party cookies.
The items below are explicitly not in use on zemoon.ca. This is an active design choice, not an omission we plan to revisit.
You stay in control.
Browser controls override anything this site can do. The preference centre (where required by law) lets you opt out of non-essential categories without leaving the page.
Updates are dated and logged.
When we add, remove or materially change a cookie, the version number at the top of this page increments and the effective date is updated. Substantive changes are flagged in-product on your next visit.
